Title: MPG Calibration Procedure
Post by: pgp001 on March 13, 2011, 05:53:26 PM
MPG Calibration

I am not sure if I did it wrong, but this is what happened.

I filled up the tank and held the UP button for three seconds to tell it the tank was full, and then zeroed all the gauges.

I drove until the tank was around 1/4 full then went to fill up again. I repeated the above process exactly.
But then I wanted to calibrate the unit by telling it exactly how much fuel I had added to the tank.
I tried to do this but it would not let me, giving an error something like ">0.1l" from memory.

Should I have NOT done the three second press on the UP button after I filled up, and done the calibrate procedure INSTEAD ?

By the way I am well impressed with the unit so far, even without the calibration it was within 1 MPG of my actual fuel useage.
My car is a 2004 Toyota RAV4 Petrol model.

PGPxxx, I had the same issue.

You have to do the calibration BEFORE the fill up. Otherwise the gauge uses the calibration factor stored.
