This is NOT what I meant.

My tank is 18.5 gallon.  I filled the tank completely and it took 15 gallon.
I want to tell UG that it took 15 gallon.  According to UG just before I
filled the tank it had shown 4.5 gallon remaining in the tank.

I want to tell UG that its fuel consumption calculation needs to be
updated to reflect that I had to put 15 gallon in the tank instead
of UG internal calculations of 14 gallon (derived from 18.5 - 4.5)

When I fill the tank, all I want to do is to get out of there as soon as I can.
Hence I hold the UP arrow key telling it I filled the tank.  Now if I had
extra time, I want to tell UG to "correct" its calculations BUT I CAN NOT
BECAUSE IT EXPECTS ME TO HAVE DONE BUNCH OF KEYPRESSES
ON MY *********PREVIOUS FILL-UP WEEK OR SO AGO****************

That is retarded :-(

Is there a way to tell UltraGauge that the particular tank fill took X amount of gallons?
I thought there was a way where UltraGauge will display what it thinks should have taken to fill
the tank and then you manually correct it using up or down buttons.

If there is such a procedure, it must be well hidden :-(

I don't think that is a good idea.  The RPM displayed is not exactly real time and the alarm lags even more.  If and when the RPM alarm goes off,  you would have already over rev'd the engine.

Well, battery voltage is available to UG but not as an OBD parameter but as a real analog input.  It will have to either have the A-D converter or its built-in step down power supply has to have the capability to measure the incoming voltage and display it.

I suspect UG does NOT have the necessary hardware built in to do that.  I would be pleasantly surprised if I am wrong.

Yesterday I had the display on the 3rd page which has coolant temperature, mass air flow, timing advance along with RPM and speed.  I was enjoying the acceleration and watching the timing advance.  I got "stuck" behind a left lane hog for a while.  When he finally moved over, I crisply accelerated (without even thinking about hidden instantaneous MPG gauge :-).  And I hit the speed alarm!  93.3 mph, default alarm 90 mph.  It seems like car can out accelerate the gauge i.e. the car had already passed the limit by 3.3 mph before the scan-gauge "caught" it :-)

It turns out the overall mileage drop was just a fraction after the spirited drive.  Literally, less than 1 mpg for my commute which is 30 x 2 miles.

This device has made me drive like a granny.  Every time I touch the gas pedal, I see my instantaneous mpg dropping in to single digit.  It has taken all the fun of experiencing nice crisp acceleration from my Maxima.

OK, OK, I am kidding!  I love it!!  But you have to agree that having this device makes you conscious of your driving style.  It is a like wife glaring at you all the time :-)

Fortunately or unfortunately, even when I drive like a granny, the mpg only goes up my a fraction e.g. from 29.7 mpg without UG to 30.7 mpg with UG.  At least for this particular car, difference between driving like granny or like a responsible adult with a family seems to be miniscule and that came as a shock to me.

My UG is installed near the visor.  Sometimes, I block UG and just punch it :-)

All kidding aside, this device is lot of fun.  For example, you can monitor your coolant temperature and realize how the analog temperature gauge on your instrument cluster is just an idiot light in disguise.  For example, the coolant can go from 160 to 210 degrees but the needle will not move.

Any comments?

One way of building customer loyalty is to let them feel as if they are part of a community.  Many of the support issues would eventually be ironed out and a forum like this could essentially handle many of the advanced issues.  Essentially, all you will have to do is to watch existing *enthusiastic* customers answer and help newbies and get involved if a question stays unanswered for a while.

There are many many examples of successful businesses based on that model.


On that note I will request following added features:-

1) Freeze frame support
2) I/M status
3) Custom gauges

The funny thing is all the data is already in the metric form.  UG does the conversion before the display.  It is funny watching the engine temperature goes from 185 to 186.8 to 188.6 to 190.4 to 192.2 etc.  Same thing for speedometer too!  The speed kept on fluctuating between 62.1 to 62.8 to 63.4 etc.

I updated the flash and now it does work on my Firefox browser.

Between you and me, when I read your "I am not really familiar with SG" comment,
I spewed out my coffee on the screen :-)

Come on, every reference to ScanGauge on the internet is mysteriously followed by
a newbie touting Ultra-Gauge who just happens to "come across" Ultra-Gauge and
goes through the trouble of registering to post that single comment.

Don't get me wrong, I am probably your best unpaid promoter ( :-) but I only did
that to the forums where I already had established my credentials.

You have a great product at a killer price point and I hope and think you will
sell them by boatload.  Let your satisfied users do the word of mouth "spamming".

I suspect either the beep is too low or it is getting drawn out by the engine noise.
Worse, I have lost hearing on that frequency :-(  I will get my son to verify
if there is a beep or not.

This seems to trips constantly when I had the Ultra-Gauge on the left hand bottom corner
of the windshield.  Sunlight was hitting it.  I had to press the <DOWN> button every few seconds
to get rid of visual alarm.  Interestingly, I do not recall any audible alarm.  Is there a way
to check if my speaker is functioning?

By the way, the demo does not work with Firefox and there were no errors.
I see "Loaded 000" and that is all.

If you are disappointed in Ultra-Gauge because the display updates are slow,
please do not think ScanGauge will be any faster.  The speed is really throttled
by the OBD-II interface of the vehicle in question and not by the scanner/gauge.

I am hoping that your web software has already swallowed the information gathered from
the laborious rebate procedure and is NOT waiting for the paper mail to show up via snail mail.

That would be a good way to build up the database vehicles currently hooked up Ultra-Gauge.

I never got the automated shipping mail nor the status got updated on the website.
BUT the box was already in my mailbox the next business day!!

Shipping was unexpectedly fast.  I ordered it on Friday and it was at my home
on Monday.
