General Discussion / Re: Ford Ranger Compatibility
« on: August 15, 2010, 12:12:28 PM »
I've checked the listing, seems the only ranger supported is the 2009 2,4L.

I own a 2010 ranger 4.0l SOHC, any chance of a compatible unit coming out soon?
The Look-up utility is not fully populated yet and does not show all vehicles yet.  The point of the utility is not to demonstrate compatibility but to try to give potential customers a sense of the gauges supported for their vehicle, since the actual gauges supported are vehicle dependent.

To date, we have not found a vehicle that UltraGauge does not work with.  There is a potential problem with 1999 and earlier Subarus, but this is based upon testing against a 1995 Subaru.  However, this may have been only because it was a 1995.  The requirement to support OBDII did not kick in until 1996.

UltraGauge should have no compatibility issues with your 2010 Ranger.

General Discussion / Re: how does this compare to scangauge?

I'm really not that familiar with SG.
UltraGauge actually displays 7 gauges at once, as the open and closed loop indicator is also shown
UltraGauge has pages of gauges which allows you to quickly switch to a second or third page of 6 different gauges, all of which are completely selectable.  So in practice, UltraGauge quickly displays 19 gauges.
I would recommend you also try the UltraGauge demonstrator found here:
Press the Auto Play to see some of the highlights

I suppose the comparison comes down to a few key elements that makes UltraGauge the clear choice:
  • Simultaneously display 7 gauges
  • Pages of gauges
  • Auto Page Advance
  • Supports up to 75 gauges
  • Alarms for every gauge - both audible and visual
  • Automatically adjusts display brightness to ambient conditions
  • Integrated temperature sensor
  • Large easy to read display, yet compact size (only 0.4" thick) for easy mounting
  • Very inexpensive
  • Free Windshield Mount
  • Scans for new trouble codes and pending codes as you drive.
