UG Blue in multiple vehicles?
« on: January 03, 2016, 05:56:13 PM »
Hey all,

Have had the Blue in my Kia Optima for several months.  Just bought another blue for my Kia Soul.

How do I pair, switch, use the 2nd blue?

Thanks in advance.

Jerry

Pairing is the same as for the initial Blue Adapter.  It is done from the Mobile Devices Bluetooth screen (see here for more details: http://www.ultra-gauge.com/customer_support/knowledgebase.php?article=34)

To Connect, the model is slightly different depending on the type of your Mobile Device:

Androi.d:
The UltraGauge App will continually attempt to connect to the Blue Adapter which it was last connected to.  If you wish to switch to another Blue Adapter:
- Select the Bluetooth Icon in the Title Bar at the top of the Gauge Page
- Near the top is a Blue box which lists the last Blue Adapter connected to.  If you click on the blue box, it will provide a pull-down list of all Blue Adapters which have been paired with this mobile device.
- Select the Blue Adapter with which you wish to connect.  The App will then attempt to connect to this device.
Note: Once selected, the App will use this Blue Adapter as the last one "seen".  This means, that in the future, this will be the default Adapter with which it attempts to connect.

Apple:
When ignition on is detected by the Blue Adapter, the Adapter will continually attempt to connect to the last Mobile Device it was connected to.  So, once you have paired with the Blue Adapter from your Mobile Device, the Adapter will continue to attempt to connect to this device.  So, if you have multiple Adapters and one Mobile Device, each of the Adapters will attempt to connect back to this single Mobile Device.
To force the App to connect to a particular Blue Adapter:
- Tap on the gauge page to bring up the title bar
- Select the Bluetooth Icon in the Title bar at the top of the Gauge Page
- Near the top is a Blue box which lists a Blue Adapter.  If you click on the blue box, it will provide a pull-down list of all Blue Adapters which are currently connected via Bluetooth to your Apple Mobile Device.
- Select the Blue Adapter with which you wish to connect.  The App will then attempt to connect to this device.
Note: This is only for the case where you want to force a connection.  Normally, you can just let Blue Automatically connect to your Mobile Device.

It's paired, do I go into the original ug app and add the 2nd car?

In other words, I see two ug blue pairings in my Bluetooth list, but how do I add the second automobile?

thanks again, this is my 4th ultra gauge... two original, and two blues.

Once paired, and with the Adapter active, you can go into the UltrgGauge App and select which Blue Adapter/Vehicle you want by following these steps:

- Select the Bluetooth Icon in the Title bar at the top of the Gauge Page
- Near the top is a Blue box which lists a Blue Adapter.  If you click on the blue box, it will provide a pull-down list of all Blue Adapters which are currently paired via Bluetooth to your Androi.d Mobile Device.  In your case, you should see the 2 Blue Adapters with which you have paired.
- Select the Blue Adapter with which you wish to connect (in this case the new one).  The App will then attempt to connect to this Adapter and retrieve the vehicle info (Note: In the "Blue Box" will be the name of the Adapter, and, if this Adapter has been previously connected to by the App, it will also include the name of the last vehicle connected with this Blue Adapter).  You will see the progress of the connection on this screen (i.e. should show:
- Bluetooth connection status
- OBDII protocol discovered
- Info derived from the VIN if VIN can be pulled via OBDII on your vehicle
- Gauges discovered (will increment count as gauges are discovered)
