2010-2013 Mazda3 Mount Solution
« on: August 07, 2013, 06:33:34 PM »
My goal was a completely removable, zero vehicle modification mount that looked clean. I took a http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-Hardware-75-6111-Corner-Brace/dp/B00004Z0R1/, three zip ties, and some soft side hook and loop tape (Velcro). Take the brace and bend it around the OBDII plug. Zip tie the plastic Ultra Gauge mount bracket to the bent corner brace. Use the Velcro tape to wrap the cord so that it does not rattle.

The weight of the Ultra Gauge is completely supported by the OBDII port, save for the cable which rests in the pocket. Unplugging the OBDII plug is all that is required to completely remove the Ultra Gauge and all traces of installation.

Nice clean install, but it seems like it would be difficult to see and potentially dangerous?
That area just above and between the tach and speedo seems more practical, although not as clean

It's a suggestion. It suits my needs, which is an engine temperature reference. That's 99% of why I purchased an Ultra Gauge, as the car only has an over hot and under temp set of lights. I don't intend or want to stare at the thing all of the time. I don't need a conversation piece. I don't want a theft target. Perhaps I'm sorry I took the time and effort to post this suggestion.
